Meet Ann and the family

Ann, Yarrow, Easter 2006

I am surely considered a local now, having lived in Plockton for 50-odd years. But I still don't have a highland accent! In a previous life, I was a physical education teacher, travelling around to the many small schools in the region.

I love B&B and have done it for many years, until 2004 with my late husband Dolan, who WAS a Plocktonian through and through.

I love meeting new guests and even more re-meeting old friends who have stayed here before, perhaps recently, perhaps years or even decades ago. Ruah and I realised this particularly in 2010 when I didn't take guests, but now with guests here and our home buzzing, it's great!

This is me near the front gate with my previous dog, Yarrow, who died in 2007. I have kept his own page, as he was a real favourite with everyone.

I now have Ruah, a gorgeous spaniel. She has her own page too, though she now has to share it with my 'new' cat Amber!

(Thanks to Sam MacKenzie for this photo)

Sam and the Plockton Rowing Trophy

Dolan always said it's no good being the best sailor in the fleet if you can't row out to your boat! So our family has presented the Dolan Mackenzie Perch Rowing Trophy to the Plockton Small Boat Sailing Club, for Dolan.

The trophy is a silver replica on stone of one of the old sailing marks in Plockton Bay - the Perch. It is now raced for annually.

Sponsorship money goes to the Chemotherapy Unit at our local hospital, McKinnon Memorial Hospital in Broadford, on the Isle of Skye.

Here's my eldest grandson Sam holding his Papa's trophy.

Three of my 4 grandchildren Catriona Sean Daniel

I have four grandchildren, who live in Edinburgh.

As regular readers of my newletter will know, they visit Plockton frequently, especially in summer, when the appeal and freedom of more-or-less country living, lots of time on the water and school holidays is pretty special.

Sam ( who you've already seen above) and Catriona (in this photo, with her two younger brothers, Sean and Daniel, at the Dalkeith Show) are now able to travel up to Plockton independently

Rowing Summer 2007

Last summer they all worked hard improving their rowing skills in my boat "Piglet", as this photo shows. I expect that they'll be at least as energetic this summer when they visit.

My granddaughter Catriona, lives in Edinburgh, but is able to visit me in Plockton frequently.

The photo of her is one I love, when we fitted Ruah with her very own lifejacket! Ruah was highly suspicious about the whole enterprise...

Catriona also loves to go out with Dolan's cousin Calum MacKenzie on his seal-watching boat, Sula Mhor.

Grandsons Sean and Daniel

Sean and Daniel at the beach - will they swim next summer in Plockton?
